TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
The speed limit is 65 miles per hour on rural sections of Kentucky’s interstates and on most parkways (pending legislative approval this will increase to 70 mph). The speed limit is reduced on interstate highways within city limits and on primary and secondary highways. Kentucky has a permissive “right turn on red” law, unless otherwise posted at the intersection and a mandatory seat belt law. Traffic reports may be obtained by calling 511. If you are

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE STATUS
The sale of alcoholic beverages in Kentucky is determined by local option elections. For the most complete listing of availability visit www.abc.ky.gov. The legal drinking age in Kentucky is 21.
SALES TAX
Kentucky state sales tax is 6% on just about everything but groceries and prescriptions. An additional 1% may be levied in special transit districts. There is a 1% statewide lodging tax and local options allow lodging taxes up to 4% and restaurant taxes up to 3%.
TIME ZONES
Kentucky is divided into two time zones, Eastern (EST) and Central (CST). Most of the north central, and all of eastern Kentucky are on Eastern Time. Most of south central and all of western Kentucky are on Central Time. From the first Sunday in April until the last Sunday in October, the entire state observes Daylight Savings Time (EDT & CDT).

CLIMATE & WEATHER
No matter the season, you'll love Kentucky's mild climate. Summers can be very warm, but cool evenings are not unusual. For spring and fall, it's a good idea to bring a light jacket. In the winter, we get a moderate amount of snow. The wettest seasons are spring and summer, and the driest is the fall.
